The Importance of Grades
Every grade you make, freshman through senior year, will impact your college plans. Almost every aspect of college admission is connected to grades in some way – whether it’s your ranking for admission or the amount of financial aid you’ll receive. Study hard and make good grades, the effort you put into your academic endeavors will certainly pay off in the long run.
One of the most important reasons to pay attention to your grades is the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship (the Lottery Scholarship). If you're going to college and want to apply for the Challenge Scholarship, you've got to take the required courses known as Smart Core. Smart Core is Arkansas's college-ready and career-ready curriculum for high school students. College and career readiness in Arkansas means that students are prepared for success in entry-level, credit-bearing courses at two-year and four-year colleges and universities, along with technical postsecondary training.
